Title | Our Story

Tell us how you first met? Who what when where why? Give us the dirty details.

We met on Saturday, February 5, 2011 in Lawrence, Kansas and were introduced by our friends Dustin and Jenny Riat. The four of us watched a KU basketball game together and went to a movie.

When did you know he / she was the one? Was there something he / she did?

Lindsay: Peter’s easygoing, lovable, spirited personality has helped me overcome any obstacle I have faced.

Peter: She showed genuine interest in cars and motorcycles, she’s very caring and a great listener, and helps me talk through problems. When everything seems to be going wrong I can always count on her being there for me.

What is the most memorable date you’ve ever had?

Lindsay: It is never just about the destination, but the adventures we take together to get there. Some of my favorite memories have been spent on a motorcycle, Vespa, in the 300ZX, and countless other vehicles. It can be as simple as exploring a road to find a new ice cream shop, or as unforgettable as meandering through a small French town. None of these adventures would have been perfect without Peter. I would not be able to roll the windows down, watch the sunset, or belt out all the songs on a Randy Travis cassette tape with anyone else.

Peter: Most memorable? I think it was when we were in Paris and we had the whole evening to ourselves. We went to a nice restaurant, sat outside near the busy street, had wine and were able to enjoy each other’s company in a setting both of us were new to. Here’s to more times like that!

Tell us about the proposal (did you see it coming, how long was it in the planning? How did you feel? Nervous, excited, freaking out?)

Lindsay: Peter had just put his 1990 Nissan 300 ZX back into one piece, and asked if I wanted to drive to Lawrence and then go on a motorcycle ride. I began to get suspicious when he stopped at Overlook Park outside of Lawrence. Usually when a motorcycle ride is involved, he does not waste any time, so I began to question why we were there. When Peter proposed, I had butterflies, but I knew he is “the one” for me.

Peter: I kept trying to think of a proposal that no one had attempted before, but then I realized none of the outlandish things I could do were actually what I would do. I already had the ring, so what was I waiting for? I told Lindsay we were going to go for a drive in my recently “finished” 300ZX project car. During that adventure I popped the question, she said “Yes,” and then the car broke down. She was stuck with me.

Tell us the one thing you love most about each other.

Lindsay: Peter can captivate just about anyone with his friendliness and make that person feel welcome.

Peter: When I’m feeling down, she is the only one that can cheer me up.

If you feel comfortable, share with us something silly or quirky the other person does

Lindsay: Peter can mimic automotive noises for just about any car, truck, or motorcycle with great accuracy.

Peter: When we’re at a store and I don’t where she’s at, I’ll whistle (mimicking a bird tweet) and she will “tweet” back. It’s pretty effective.
