TJ&K | Lawrence Kansas Wedding | Eldridge Hotel | Clinton Lake

June 5, 2014

Photos from TJ and Kristina’s intimate wedding at the Eldridge Hotel in Lawrence, Kansas.

Tell us how you first met? Who what when where why? Give us the dirty details.

Kristina—We actually met on a dating site that I was on because my friends made me a profile (everyone says their friends made it, huh. . . :p).  Immediately when I saw his profile, I told my Maid of Honor, “I am marrying him.”  I was too nervous to message him for a few days, though!  Our first meeting in person was a dud—luckily he thought I was at least worth a second first date! 🙂

TJ—We met on a dating site, I had pretty much given up on the whole online dating thing and then Kristina messaged me. I was very skeptical, there was no way a beautiful girl like that had interest in me. After talking and a few “skype” dates we met, unfortunately it was a rough first meeting. There was something special there, though, and the second first date—which was the next day–was amazing. Just goes to show you if it is meant to be it will happen.

When  did you know he / she was the one? Was there something he / she did?

Kristina—Our second first date was so magical.  We walked on Mass Street and talked and I think that was the night I knew I was right—I was going to marry him someday.

TJ – Don’t tell her but I knew there was something special even on our first date night even though it was a dud. There was something about her that I was drawn to. I knew she was the one from that moment on as crazy as that sounds she  stole my heart.

Tell us about the proposal (did you see it coming, how long was it in the planning? How did you feel? Nervous, excited, freaking out?)

Kristina-I knew we were going to get engaged soon, because we were already kind of planning the wedding!  I was surprise when he proposed with a ring, though, because he had the ring for weeks before he did it (Shhhhh. . . don’t tell anyone I knew that!!)  He cooked me a steak dinner with twice baked potatoes and deviled eggs.  I was in charge of cooking the asparagus, which I burnt and to this day I still feel bad about that.  The smoke alarm went off, so he went to open the windows, when he came back, he got on his knee and asked.  It could not have been more perfect—even with the burnt asparagus and smoke alarm blaring!

Tell us the one thing you love most about each other.

Kristina—He treats me like a queen.  He opens doors, pulls out chairs, does the little things for me, but they are the things that make me smile the biggest.

TJ – Her sense of humor. Gosh we are a goofy couple, it is something that is   just so much fun. We can literally sit in a room with nothing on and just goof         around and it is amazing.

If you feel comfortable, share with us something silly or quirky the other person does

Kristina—When he goes to his parents house, he eats them out of fruit roll-ups. . . EVERY SINGLE TIME.

TJ – She meows at me. Not even kidding. It makes me laugh just thinking        about it.

What inspired your décor or theme?

Kristina—My mother inspired the decorations.  She is really crafty and loves do-it-yourself projects.  We basically made the whole wedding from scratch.  We stuck to very simple, yet homey décor, which matches our personalities extremely well.

What’s one thing you wish you would have known earlier in regards to planning?

Kristina—Do not wait until the last minute to do DIY (do-it-yourself) projects.  Not everything will turn out and you may have to adjust your ideas quite a bit.  It is all about trial and error.
