M&C | Lawrence Kansas Wedding | Danforth Chapel | Granada Theater

September 16, 2014

Photos from Myron and Chelsea’s wedding at Danforth Chapel in Lawrence, Kansas. The reception was held at the Granada Theater downtown.

Tell us how you first met? Who what when where why? Give us the dirty details.

Myron and I truly first met at his birthday/coming home(from spending a summer studying abroad in Italy!) party at Trailridge apartments where our mutual friends, Jon (best man), Quinn (groomsman), Joe (officiate), and Jarad lived. However, I knew who Myron was as I had seen him play in the band Head On Collision. We had lots of mutual friends and we were bound to meet at some point! That party I specifically remember spilling my drink on the floor and being super embarrassed about it (which is ironic because Myron now laughs at how clumsy and spill-prone I am all the time!)

When did you know he / she was the one? Was there something he / she did?

I think we both knew it was something very real and special about 4 months after we started dating and I left for a month in Ireland. I was about to embark on one of the greatest experiences of my life and yet my heart was broken for the entire 4 weeks because I missed him so much. I knew then and he expresses that he did too, that there was no way we could ever be without each other again.

What is the most memorable date you’ve ever had?

Definitely our two year anniversary date in Lawrence. After dinner, Myron drove me all over town, taking me to each of the locations in town that had significance to our relationship – where we first met, our first date, all of the college houses we lived in and spent time at, where we first said I loved you, where we liked to go out, his parent’s home – and finally ending at Danforth Chapel where we had once mentioned if we ever got married we definitely would get married there – where he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! The night ended going back to his college house where many of our friends were waiting to hear the news and pop champagne with us! It was an incredible night that I’m sure neither of us will ever forget!

Tell us about the proposal (did you see it coming, how long was it in the planning? How did you feel? Nervous, excited, freaking out?)

See the above! 🙂 I didn’t see it coming, he was so sneaky about all the preparation – he went to Lawrence during the work day to pick out the ring and arrange the photos that he gave me – and I had no idea where we were even going to dinner until that night! I was definitely suspicious the night of though, I just felt like something was happening. Once the tour around Lawrence started I knew what he was doing and then yes I was nervous, excited, freaking out, all of the above! Once we got to Danforth and he got out of the car I told him I didn’t think my legs worked! And when he popped the question I almost couldn’t get out the “yes!” because I was giggling uncontrollably out of sheer joy!

Tell us the one thing you love most about each other.

Chelsea – “That he keeps me sane! He supports me no matter what crazy thing I decide to do and keeps me calm when I want to freak out or just lets me freak out when I need to. He’s the calm to my crazy!”

Myron – “That she keeps me alive! She makes me take vitamins and medicine and actually take care of myself. She knows me better than I know myself. She keeps me balanced!”

If you feel comfortable, share with us something silly or quirky the other person does.

Chelsea – “We can both be pretty silly with our pups Scott and Molly but when Myron starts wrestling with them and getting them all riled up its like there are three kids in the house!”

Myron – “She is super particular about her side of the bed. Sometimes I make fun of her that she is terrified of the middle of the bed!

Describe the theme or décor for your wedding.

Our wedding colors are actually based off of the unusual color of the wedding dress I picked out – blush – and Myron’s favorite color – navy. We went with an addition of a neutral grey to balance both of those colors and kept our decoration simple with touches of our wedding colors. Danforth Chapel and The Granada are both so incredible on their own that we didn’t want to do too much to them to take away from each of the venue’s look that we already love. We went more casual with the guys’ outfits and long flowing grey dresses for our beautiful bridesmaids. We are SO excited to see it come together and can’t wait to treasure the photos forever!
