Our Story

Tell us how you first met? Who what when where why? Give us the dirty details.

Kim: Kyle and I met our freshman year of college at the University of Evansville. I was waiting in line at a soccer game to get some food when I realized that I had forgotten my meal ticket back in my dorm room. Kyle, who was standing in line behind me, overheard my conversation with my roommate and offered to give me his extra meal ticket. We stood next to each other at the game and I knew right away that I liked him. After the game I Facebook stalked him and realized he had a girlfriend. I knew that I really, really liked him so I settled on waiting to see what would happen.

Kyle: After a couple weeks of school and hanging out every day, I couldn’t avoid my feelings any longer and broke up with my high school girlfriend. We started dating shortly after and I’ve been in love ever since!

When did you know he / she was the one? Was there something he / she did?

Kyle: I knew Kim was the one mere moments after I met her. As I stood next to her at the soccer game she cheered on the opposing goalie while the rest of the crowd heckled him. I remember her saying “valiant effort” to the goalie and with those two words I was sold.

Kim: I definitely wasn’t so sure! I really liked him but it wasn’t until a couple months into our relationship that I knew for sure that he was the guy I wanted to marry. Once I realized how absolutely amazing he was, I knew I couldn’t let him go.

What is the most memorable date you’ve ever had?

The summer after our sophomore year we were both stuck in Evansville. Kyle bought tickets to see one of his favorite bands, The Avett Brothers, and we traveled to Nashville for the weekend to see them. It was our first trip alone together and we ate some amazing food and listened to some really good music. I also made him listen to every Taylor Swift song on my ipod on the car ride there and walked him through her entire musical career (God bless his sweet soul for putting up with me).

Tell us about the proposal (did you see it coming, how long was it in the planning? How did you feel? Nervous, excited, freaking out?)

Kyle: The summer after our first year in the work force we planned a trip to New Orleans. I thought this would be the perfect time to pop the question. We’d looked at rings a couple months before and on our first day in New Orleans I asked her to be my wife!

Tell us the one thing you love most about each other.

Kyle: I love Kim’s smile when she laughs.

Kim: I love how patient Kyle is with me, even when I’m being incredibly difficult.

If you feel comfortable, share with us something silly or quirky the other person does.

Kim: It literally annoys the heck out of me, but I always wake up before Kyle. So every morning we have this battle of me trying to get him out of bed, him falling back asleep and then me eventually getting upset because he won’t get up. I really should have accepted it by this point, but I’m clinging to the hope that one day he’ll get up the first time!

Kyle: When we move to Colorado after the wedding, I won’t be working the night shift anymore. While Kim’s excited to have me home every night she keeps guilt tripping me because it means she won’t get to cuddle with Angel, our Australian shepherd, at night anymore. Clearly we know who she loves most.
